This Christmas, they are collecting toys, cash donations and calling out for special treats for Christmas Food Hampers.
They are also providing a pick up and drop off point for the Lower Hutt Community Secret Santa.

Ways to Spread Christmas Cheer
Share Baking
Kokiri Marae Pātaka Kai distributes food parcels to hundreds of families at Christmas and whanau love receiving home baking or special treats!
Sharing homemade food builds community connection and shows atawhai. Home baking is a personal way to share your family Christmas traditions and show your care about our wider Lower Hutt whanau.
Making an extra batch of sugar cookies or gingerbread to donate is really meaningful to whanau and appreciated! Drop off to 33 Wise Street, Wainuiomata.
Donate Treats
Kokiri Marae Pātaka Kai hopes to make Christmas special for whanau who many not otherwise be able to celebrate. They are asking for donations of treats to make Christmas special for whanau in our community.
Anything is really appreciated. Whanau enjoy packets of jelly, tins of fruit salad. We are happy to talk to you directly about what we are particularly in need of.
Donate Gifts
If you do not want to add to your christmas shopping list - buying toys and donating them directly to Kokiri Marae Pātaka Kai would be incredibly appreciated. Some gifters prefer to buy extra of the items they are already buying for children in their lives. Others like to let their children choose special presents!

Donate Vouchers
If you would prefer to donate vouchers for children and whanau, the Pātaka Kai team will use the vouchers for food hamper.
Kokiri Marae Pātaka Kai would really appreciate donations of vouchers from supermarkets. These enable whanau facing food insecurity extra support during this expensive time of year. There is a gap in services during the Christmas shut down period and the Pātaka would like to give some supermarket vouchers directly to whanau most in need.
Shop for Good
Kokiri Marae Pātaka Kai has a second-hand shop that fundraises for their important mahi.

The shop sells beautiful knitted blankets that could be a perfect Christmas gift. If you do your shopping at the Pātaka Kai Shop, you are contributing to the circular economy and supporting the distribution of kai and neccessities to whanau.
The shop is located at 33 Wise Street, Wainuiomata and open Monday-Wednesday 9-2 and Thursday 9-12.
